Solar Regulators That Work
Plasmatronics and Trace Engineering solar regulators, Australian Energy Research Laboratories and Outback Powersolar maximising regulators.
Plasmatronics Regulators
Plasmatronics are an Australian company who manufacture "state of the art" solar controllers. The Plasmatronics PL series regulators are amongst the best available in the world and offer a huge array of functions beside regulation of your solar array. Apart from being a three stage PWM regulator your PL regulator will offer you the following functions should you ever require them:
Plasmatronics PL Series
• Adjustable All settings are adjustable, units feature voltages from 12 – 48
• Display User friendly alphanumeric LCD gives your words to explain the numbers
• Energy Metering Shows daily charge and discharge amp/hours
• History Records charge and load amp/hours, max and min voltage and state of charge for last 30 days
• Generator Control A sophisticated generator controller in included should you wish to use an auto-start generator
• Event controller Allows loads to be turned on or off under different conditions, ideal for lighting, pumping, frost control etc.
• Protection Protected against short circuit, reverse flow, lightning. Low battery disconnect built in, current limit for over heat of current, conformal coating for maximum corrosion resistance.
These regulators are simple to install and use. Highly recommended! Available in 20 amp, 40 amp and 60 amp sizes.
Small Size Plasmatronics Regulators
These regulators are ideal for small systems up to 10 amps and offer a budget priced compact design. So small you can install it in the panel lead, these simple switch regulators work very well. A good choice for single panel installations with up to 10 amps solar current. Available in 12 or 24 volt, for sealed or flooded type batteries (specify).
Trace Engineering Regulators
Trace Engineering make simple but strong three stage regulators that work extremely well. If you don't require the sophistication of a Plasmatronics regulator and want a tough easily adjustable unit, a Trace regulator will suit you perfectly! These regulators can be configured for any battery type.
• 12 or 24 volt selectable (C40: 12, 24 or 48 volts)
• PWM or load diversion regulation
• Easily adjustable parameters for any type of battery
• Automatic or manual equalisation
• Connectors big enough for the largest of cable size sizes
• Temperature compensation if required
• Optional digital display shows amps, volts, logs 30 day inputs
• Available in 35, 40 and 60 amp sizes
Maximising (or Maximizing depending on your spelling!) Solar Controllers
These devices can boost your solar output by up to 30% depending on your lacation and panel temperature. See our regulators page in the information section for more info or download the brochures or operating manuals from our sownloads page.
Outback Power MX60 Maximising Controller
The MX60 raises the bar for high performance solar controllers. OutBack’s ingenuity and engineering experience has been combined to maximize the output power of your expensive solar array. Reall time active Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) system ensures that your solar array is operating at its peak power point regardless of age, shading or environmental conditions. Systems with large solar arrays are now a snap thanks to the MX60’s 60 amp
DC output current rating for 12, 24 or 48 VDC systems - all with just one product model!

Australian Energy Research Laboratories (AERL)
AERL are a Queensland company with unique exerience in the switchmode power supply field and extensive experience in high voltage DC circuitry. We have used their maximisers in conditions and locations where there is simply nothing else on the market (or planet) that would cope. An example being a location where the owner wanted his solar array a full 200 metres from his house. We wired the array in series for a high voltage low amperage feed. The array consists of 8 x 80 watt modules with a 160 volt potential. This flows the 200 metres through thin (10 mm square) cable and is converted into 24 volts by the battery. The performance is staggering with more power being fed into the batteries than if the array was directly above the installation and using a conventional regulator. Email us for your requirements. |
